Carnival could not happen without the help from all our supporters. Thank you to all those local businesses and individuals who provide us with donations, sponsorship, raffle prizes and those who assist with the actual running of this event through the provision of materials or practical help such as provision of car parking, premises for us to hold meetings  or advertising in this programme.

It costs in the region of £17,000 to stage our Shepton Mallet Carnival. Essential costs include things like crowd barriers, insurance and licences, radios, road signs and printing. All the members of our organising committee, the marshals, judges and collectors, are unpaid volunteers who give their time and expertise willingly. The carnival clubs and all the entrants work all year round to build their carts and make their costumes so that we can enjoy a safe and spectacular evening.  Thank you also to all those visiting Carnival marshals who are helping us this year.

It is hard to select a few of our valuable supporters for a specific mention but this year we would like to add a particular thank you to:

·        Haskins for allocating space for disabled parking

·        Shepton Mallet Town Council  for their grant support to enable purchase of safety barriers and the like

·        Salvation Army for providing us with premises for our base on Carnival night

·        Denela’s Bakery for providing refreshments for our judges
